St Pattys day

Yesterday I ran the Race for the Cure 5k.
My goal for the race was to finish in under 36 minutes.
Well, I didn't make my goal but I came pretty stinkin close.
My official time was 36:13!
I wa so excited.
My previous 5k PR was around 39 minutes so I am super happy with 36:13.
Next weekend is my triathlon, I dont feel as nervous as I think I should.
I have been swimming and running but I haven't even gotten on my bike yet.
Horrible.
I hope I remember how to even ride.
I really need to practice a couple times this week.
My goal for the tri is to just finish.
I would love to run the entire 5k but I am afraid that I might be exhausted after swimming 800 yards and biking 12 miles.
So finishing is my number one priority.
I better get training.

This is Melinda and me at the start line.
It was a fun race, with a ton of great free goodies.

That blueish greenish shirt was the closest thing I own to green.
And I didn't have any beer this St. Pattys day.
Kinda sad.
Hope you all had a great weekend!

Womens 5k

I had such a nice weekend.
First one in a long time where the kids didn't have anything on their schedule.

Melinda, my SIL, and I ran in a women's only 5k on Sunday.
I was so stinkin nervous about this run.
The course starts on a downhill and the rest was basically all uphill, there were two small flat stretches but they were very short.
My official time was 40:02.
I could have done better but oh well.
I am not upset with my time, I mean there were a lot of hills.
We had fun even though there was supposed to be Lululemon schwag but I didn't manage to get any.
Annoyed.
Oh, I almost forgot, I signed up for a Southern Arizona Road Runners membership at the race.
Know what that means?!
I am an official runner.
I even said that to the ridiculously fit pregnant girl who had just kicked my butt in the 5k.
She gave me a pretty good chuckle then agreed that that definitely made me a runner.

Oh Friday, after packet pick up Melinda and I stopped by the Nike outlet.
I went in looking for some new carpi's but came out with a new pair of shoes.
Last week when I had tried on shoes at Fleet Feet they had recommended two different pairs.
Brooks Ghost 5, which I bought that day, and Nike Pegasus, which I hadn't bought just because everyone seems to love the brooks so I wanted to try them.
Anyway, while at the Nike Outlet I found a pair of the Nike's for only $60 so I decided that I just had to have them.
So now I have two pairs of brand new running shoes, I love buying shoes!

Look how cute the tech shirt from this race was.
Plus it perfectly matches my new Brooks.
Awesome!

Race 3 of my 13 in 2013 done!

Happy Monday!

Wowza, I'm 30

Thirty.
Today I turned thirty!
Exciting!!
I thought about doing a cool list of 30 things I want to do in my 30th year like Darci and Kyra did but I am lame and couldn't think of 30 things.  So oh well.

I am going to dinner tomorrow night with some friends to celebrate, Mongolian BBQ!!
Then on Sunday I am meeting my sister early to run to the gym, once there we are going to go to a Zumba class.
We use to take Zumba classes together all the time before she upped and moved to Phoenix.
After Zumba my whole family is meeting us for breakfast, my gym has a restaurant that serves some killer breakfast.
We are not going to celebrate just my birthday but also my adorable baby bugger's birthday, he turned one last Tuesday.
Isn't he the cutest thing ever?!!!

And because we live in Arizona where the weather is pretty perfect I think that we are going to swim for a little while after breakfast.
They heat the pools and the jacuzzi has been calling my name for a while now.
Can't wait, should be a great weekend.

Also, thanks for all the support with my weight loss, I really appreciate all of you!
You rock!

I am going to keep at it with the healthy eating, I think I might feed all the ice cream to the kids tomorrow so that it isn't tempting me anymore.

Oh and on the 10th I am running in the Color Me Rad run.
I am really excited!
Melinda, my SIL, and a couple of our friends are all running it together.
It should be a lot of fun.

Almost forgot, I am also going to run a virtual 5k tomorrow.
I signed up to do 13 in 2013 (races) so after the color run I will have two done and 11 to go.
Yeah!
 Preview

Hope you all have a great weekend

Monday

I know, really thought out title huh. I couldn't think of anything good.

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Ours turned out to be very low key and relaxing.
We did have 3 soccer games scheduled for Saturday morning immediately followed by a pizza party for one of the teams.  Then I was supposed to leave the party early to head to a celebration of life, a memorial service for a friend of mines daughter.
But instead of all that chaos it rained.
I love the rain, especially when it makes our lives slow down.  Instead of a morning filled with soccer and feelings of being rushed for me to get to the memorial service we were able to hang out in our pajamas.
Here are the kids building a Lego town in their pjs while I enjoy my coffee.

I was able to go for a run in between the downpours, it was beautiful weather.
And since I had time I actually did my hair and spent time picking out a nice outfit to wear to the ceremony.
Of course, once I was all "done up" I went to get in the car and somehow managed to fall out flat on my back.
I swear, it must have been hysterical to see.
Luckily I didn't really hurt anything, I have a small scrape on my ankle and a bruise on my elbow but nothing major.
I was wearing heals, a denim pencil skirt and a black shirt, I realize I probably should have taken a picture since I finally wore something other then yoga pants and a t-shirt but I wasn't feeling all that great in the outfit so decided not to document it.
Anyway, back to the awesome fall, I drive a big SUV that has running boards along the side, I was talking on the phone to my sister and knew that I was climbing in the car very awkwardly due to wearing heals and a skirt, see the problems that occur from wearing only yoga pants all the time I am not use to functioning in a skirt.
Well, the running boards were wet from the rain and my heels don't have good grip anyway.
I stepped on the running board and as soon as I put all my weight on that foot to get in I slipped, my feet went up over my head and I landed flat on my back next to the car.
I couldn't do anything but laugh, Jordan came running over and said, "what happened?! Did you fall?"
Gotta love five year olds, no I didn't fall, I just felt like laying on the wet ground in my nice clothes with my butt hanging out to the world.
Luckily for me only two cars drove by as I was still laying there trying to figure out if I was indeed ok.
Jon came over to see if I was ok, then asked if I needed help up cause um you are wearing a skirt.
I guess he didn't like me flashing the whole neighborhood.
Jon and Jordan dusted me off and I left for the life celebration, which was a beautiful ceremony where I cried my eyes out, the young girl who went to be with Jesus was only 19 and was prepared to go so she had very clearly written out her desires for her ceremony.
One of the things she wanted was for her dad to walk her down the isle since he now wouldn't have the privilege.
I was balling before he even entered the room.
Precious.

Sunday was just as laid back, Melinda, my sister in law, and I went for a run on a trail close to my house.
 It was so much fun!
We ran 3.25 miles and then did some stairs because we felt so good after.
I don't know what it is but I feel like I have so much more in me when I run on a trail vs. a street.
After the run I ate back my calories burned took the kids to McDonald's for breakfast, a new one opened right next to our house and they have $1 pancakes through the month of February.
I let the kids play on the playground for a LONG time, they needed to get rid of some energy.
We hung out at home playing in the rain for the rest of the day, oh we also walked to the park by our house and played on that playground.
All around it was a very nice weekend.
How was your weekend?

Have you stopped by Laura's blog and entered in her giveaway yet?

Ooh...I am so excited to find out who won Lora's ginormous giveaway!!!

This little guy also got to turn around in the car this weekend, he LOVES facing forward and I love being able to see him.

Running gear link up

button

Today I am linking up with Laura and Mel (I love them!) for a running gear link up.

I don't really have any amazing running gear, I wish I did.
I check prices over and over again hoping to one day have a fancy pancy garmin watch but alas, I have none.
My one favorite running item that I have decided that I could not live without are my compression capris from old navy.
They are amazing!
They are so comfortable.  They stay in place at all times.  They are just all around wonderful.
I feel like I could fly in them.
Since having run in them now when I wear other pants/capris to run I feel sluggish, I know it sounds silly but that is the only difference between the runs.
I am so in love with my capris that I am planning on going and buying another pair just in case old navy decides to stop carrying them.
I love them that much.

Can't wait to see what other gear I need be on the lookout for.

Nice and relaxing

My weekend was very low key, the kids had no soccer games this weekend.
It was so nice to have a break from soccer.
We went to dinner with family Friday night, William spent the night with my sister in law and Jordan spent the night with my mom so we ended up with just the two little kids at home.
It was great, they went to bed early so Jon and I were able to just hang out and relax together.

Then Saturday we all slept in until 7!!
Yes, that is an amazing feat in my house.
I got in a nice 1.5 mile run outside, the weather has changed and is back to being just beautiful outside.
We didn't do anything else all day Saturday, just hung around, it was so nice.

Sundays are my long run days which I always plan to do outdoors, it was beautiful weather again.  Melinda, my SIL, went with me.
I was scheduled for a 3.5 mile run, I was a little nervous cause I haven't been doing really well with my longer runs.
So I told Melinda that we were just going to go really, really slow and try to finish at least 3 miles.

My stupid smart dumb, pain in my butt phone couldn't find a GPS signal so we ended up just running as long as we could hoping that we would get close to 3 miles.
I hadn't set a route because I thought we would just go until we hit a mile and a half then turn back towards my house.
Well, we ended up doing great, we thought that we had only ran about 2 miles but when I drove it we actually had gone 2.8 miles!
I was so excited because we had actually paced ourselves so nicely and could have kept going but we had already extended it to loop past my house once so we thought we were good to stop.
If I had known we were so close to the 3 miles I would have finished it, heck I felt so good I might have even finished the whole 3.5.
I was really impressed with my endurance, we finished the 2.8 miles in 35 minutes, not too bad.  After I was feeling so good and I wanted to go to sports authority so I talked her into running there with me, it is only .4 miles from my house so it wasn't really far but since we ran there and back we got in another almost full mile.
It was a pretty nice morning.

I spent the afternoon putting together this dome climber that my mom had gotten for her backyard, it was a lot of work and my thumb hurts from tightening all of the bolts.  But it was totally worth it cause the kids spent a good hour on it after I finished and they only stopped cause it was time to go home.  This is a great outdoor toy if you are looking for some sort of jungle gym.

I am off to get some swimming in this morning, then we are playing at the park.

How was your weekend?

It's on!!!

My husband, Jon, has always been able to run circles around me.
When we were in high school his sister and I used to go running every morning, one day he came with us and actually ran circles around us talking the whole time while we were dying.
Anyway, on Saturday my new running shoes came in the mail.

Woohoo!!

I was so excited, I of course promptly put them on and started showing him, his sister (the same one I still run with), and my mom how fast my new shoes make me go.
Picture me running full speed from the kitchen down the hall and back just like a little four year old does when showing someone how fast their shoes make them go.
Well my husband made some smart ass remark to witch I responded that he better watch out or I might invite him running with me and then leave him in the dust.
One thing lead to another and I ended up challenging him to a race.
The race will be held on the first Saturday of 2014, yep, I have a full year to train for this race and you better believe I will kick his butt!

He has always been one of those people built to run, he can do no training WHATSOEVER then go run a 5k in 24 minutes, it is one thing I hate am jealous about him.

A sweet note from our past, before either of us had a car he used to run the 3.5 miles from his house to mine to hang out then would run home, sweet.

Back to the race, we are trying to come up with a good name for it, I had thought maybe the honey race cause it is going to be so sweet to leave my honey in the dust.

 Ehh.
I don't love it.
 Do you have any ideas?

Cause you know we are going to be referring to this race all year long.

I will beat him, you better believe it.

Plus we need something to call it cause it has been coming up a lot.

 Funny story.

Last night I looked outside and see Jon running, FAST across the backyard carrying a huge log.
I opened the door to go tease him about training for the big race.
But I stepped out, slipped on a stupid hammer that my son had been playing with and fell flat on my ass!
 It hurt like hell!
Once I figured out that Ben, yes I was holding baby Ben when I fell, once I figured out that we were both fine I still made fun of him about his "training."
Which of course didn't quite have the impact I had envisioned since I was saying it from the ground. He responded with some comment about how I better get used to seeing him from that angle cause I am going to be on my knees crying, he is going to beat me so bad.
I don't know, I guess you had to be there.
I have a huge bruise on my arm where I hit the door frame, I tried to take a picture but it didn't show how swollen it is.
The neighbors are even all revved up for the race.  They have an 18 year old son that Jon occasionally goes running with, well I told them about the race yesterday and how I was going to beat Jon by a gazillion minutes and he didn't even hesitate, he said, "oh, Jon is going to let you win by that much huh?"
I couldn't believe it, this quite nerdy kid just hit me with that one, oh it is so on.
Now I have to beat him to prove it to everyone, so watch out Jonny boy.
I'm coming for you.
So everyone better go ahead and mark your calenders for the great race.
(that name doesn't work either, I need to think of something better)

New running shoes

I just ordered these babies
Womens ASICS GEL-Neo33 Running Shoe
I am very excited!
This is the first pair of what I feel like are real running shoes I have ever had.
Until now I have always ran in my cheap cross training shoes that I got from Costco.
But now that I am really committing to this running thing I decided to put on some big girl pants and buy shoes actually meant for running.
I can't wait till they come in the mail.
It will be better than Christmas!

13 in 2013

All right, I really wanted to avoid weighing in today but I just couldn't keep myself off the scale.  I am back up to 176 lbs.
Bummer, but whatever.  I continued to eat whatever I wanted over New Years and am now ready to get back on track.
That number will be going back down next week.

I signed up with Jill at Fitness, Health, & Happiness to run 13 races in 2013.  I know, it seems like a lot but I need the motivation to make myself run.  I chose to do 13 5ks but who knows maybe by the summer I will be ready to try a 10k (doubt it).  She will also be hosting some virtual races so that will help with the cost, man races are ridiculously expensive.

Anyway, I have noticed that I say (type?) anyway in almost every post maybe my goal for 2013 should be to not say anyway so much.

Anyway, I think that this 13 in 2013 will just help in my Operation Red Bikini challenge.
I still don't have my goals for this year sorted out, maybe that will never happen, I don't know.

Oops, it is Wednesday: weigh in day

Apparently, last week got away from me, I haven't blogged anything since last weeks weigh in.  I didn't mean to do that, oh well, I guess I will do a quick recap of my week.  Just because I am sure that you are all wondering what I have been doing. ;)

Thanksgiving was good, lunch at the in laws and dinner with my family, yep, two big meals in one day.  They were both super delicious, especially the desserts!  Except I only got one tiny slice of my favorite French Silk pie, which makes me sad but it payed off on the scale.

Friday was my daughter, Rexy's 3rd birthday.  I can't believe that she is 3 already, I know everyone says it but time really does go by way to quickly.  We celebrated her birthday on Thanksgiving with each meal, she loved/hated all of the attention.  She was so excited to sing happy birthday but she didn't realize that we would all be singing it while staring at her with crazy happy faces.  She of course burst into tears, it was adorable.

Black Friday happened, I am a big black Friday shopper.  We went all night long, I loved it but I think that my mom and my sister and I have decided that next year we are going to go back to getting up at like 3 am to start instead of staying up all night.  One reason being that JC Penny is one of our favorite stores and they haven't lost all morals, so they still open at 6 am Friday morning.  Which I like except since we went all night we ended up with two hours to kill before JCP (that's what the cool kids call it) opened.  Keeping ourselves awake those two hours was hard, we are old!!
It was still an awesome shopping time, I am almost finished with our Christmas shopping.  Woohoo!

The weekend was very relaxing, just played with family and got some little stuff done around the house.  I don't think that I have ever mentioned that we live in a construction zone, I think that is going to need its own post.

Back to school for the kids and regular life for me on Monday.  I did really well last week with the Pile On The Miles, last weeks total was 15 miles, it felt great.  I am going to have to get in around 20 miles this week to make my 50 mile goal but I am determined.

And lastly, my weigh in.

I am happy to report that even after consuming two Thanksgiving day meals and all of the left overs I am still down.  All that running/walking paid off.  I weighed in this morning at 171.8.  I love this loosing streak!  Hope it continues, I love it when I move the number in the tens column, that's right, the tens column, can you tell I have a second grader.  =)

Loved reading about everyone else's thanksgiving!

Pile on the Miles 2012

I slacked the first part of the month due to sickness but I rallied this last weekend and got 8.5 miles in just this past weekend.  So my total for last week was 6.5 miles, Sunday's miles count for this week.

I would really like to make my 50 mile goal so I am not giving up.

I can do it!

Pile On The Miles 2012

A quick update with my POTM total.

 Are you ready?

I am still at 2.5 miles!

Yep, I didn't go running after Monday last week.  I have had another stupid head cold and I hate running when I can't breath through my nose.

Am I the only one like this?

Do you run when you have a head cold?

I just can't force myself, but I am feeling a lot better and could actually breath today so I hit the pavement running today.  I have to make up for a lot of missed mileage.  Wish me luck.  I am still aiming to hit that 50 mile goal.

Watch out!

Pile On The Miles

It is time for the first "check in" of Pile On The Miles 2012.
So here I am checking in.  Thing is, I sadly have nothing to check in.  November so far has been an incredibly busy/frustrating month.

Thursday, the 1st, I overslept and was unable to go running, that was the beginning of a very busy day.  Friday, the 2nd, Jon left for work super early so once again I wasn't able to go running, I went to the gym and tried to run on the treadmill but after only half a mile I was BORED out of my mind.  (Hey, I guess I did half a mile, better then nothing)  Saturday was confusing, Jon was planning on taking the two big buggers camping but had to go work for two hours first so I thought that he was leaving super early again so I didn't set my alarm but he overslept throwing off the whole morning.  Wow, holy run on sentence batman!  Anyway, I ended up taking the kids to their soccer games, that I thought we were skipping, then they all left for camping.  Leaving me to not have gone running and now alone with two little children and no way to escape.  Ahhhh!  What a scary story.  Just kidding, I had a great weekend spending some one on one time with my two babies.  They are a lot of fun but I was not able to get any running in.  Props to all those single parents who are able to fit workouts in their schedules, I don't know how they do it.

But I had a great run this morning, I was able to get in 2 miles.  I had talked with Jon last night and he was not leaving early today so I set two different alarms and I made sure to be up on time.  Now I only have to somehow run 47 1/2 more miles during the rest of November.

I can't wait to read how everyone else is doing with this challenge.

Have a great week!

Pile On The Miles

I signed up for Pile On The Miles over at RunEatRepeat.

Melanie @ 4Kottez blogged about how she signed up, I followed her link and decided that I wanted to take the challenge too.  My mileage goal for the month of November is 50 miles.  Some of the women who are participating have goals that just seem insane to me, there are a range of distance goals starting around 20 and going up to as many as 200 miles.  Seriously!  200 miles is incredible.  I can't wait to follow these women and be inspired by their ability.  Wow, I mean, 200 miles in a month!  I am just amazed by that distance.  I think that I am going to have to push it to make my 50 miles.

Anyone else up to the challenge?

Another 5k

This weekend seemed to pass by so stinking fast.

Saturday was full of soccer games, baby showers, family, family, and more family.  Sunday was surprisingly filled with, wait for it....family!

I also ran the Run Like Hell 5k yesterday.  It was a lot of fun people watching checking out all of the different costumes.  Melinda and I went dressed as pirates and sadly this is the best picture I got of us.  Sorry.

This race took place at 5pm and it was much hotter then it has been all week, way hotter then when I usually run.  Actually, I felt pretty good on this run, I could have run this whole thing but it was more important to complete it with Melinda.  I really enjoyed chatting with her the whole run.  I don't know what our time was because this was an untimed fun run, but I think I will be ready to run another timed event in the next couple weeks.  I can definitely tell a difference in my stamina from just a few weeks ago to now, I feel like I am actually accomplishing something with running.  It is exciting!  Makes me really look forward to all of my runs scheduled for this week.

Did anyone else run a 5k this weekend?

So far, so good...

Having my workout schedule calender up on the fridge has been working so far. I really didn't want to do the shred last friday but knowing I would see the calender over and over and not have Jillian's name crossed out made me do it. I have crossed everything off so far, well except Jillian for today but it is still early. I even added a run on saturday that I didn't have scheduled, which I of course wrote on the calender just so I could cross it off. I feel more accomplished being able to see what excersize I have done over the last week. Feels good, feels really good!

I fully enjoyed this mornings run, it has been gorgeous weather here. I love this time of year in arizona, we don't get to have any of the beautiful changing fall colors but the temperatures are great for spending time outside.  This morning I completed just under two miles, I should have gone a different route because I felt like I could have gone on forever but I had reached my house so I stopped. I am going to go a different way next time.

Onto family stuff, everyone is finally starting to feel better in our house, thank goodness. I LOVE sleep. I hope you all are having a great Monday!

Over it

Over it, yep, I am over my horrible time and ready to move on.  Just needed a day I guess.

Oh, I forgot to mention the funniest part about the crazy lady from the 5k.  After running to get away from her I yelled, "my shin is killing me and I ended up next to a crazy lady" to my friends as I went past.  They yelled something back but since I was actually running at that point I missed what they said.  When I finished the race Diana asked, very concerned, "so what happened? A crazy lady kicked you in the shin?!"  Hahaha!  I almost died it was so funny.  I can't believe I forgot to mention that part.  Oops.

Anyway, like I said, I am over the crazy lady run.  Melinda has already talked me in to signing up for another 5k at the end of the month, a costume one so we will see how that goes.

Getting up tomorrow and planning on finishing my normal 2 mile route.
Should be fun, right?

Here is a picture of my adorable sick bugger.  I swear he has been sick for over a month.  I took him into the doctor again today, they are starting him on antibiotics finally, I felt like he needed them last week.  Hopefully he starts feeling better right away cause I love him but I really would like to sleep at night again.

I finished

Well, I finished my first 5k.

It was horrible!

The way I felt during the run and my time, 42 minutes and 21 seconds.

Ugh. I had thought if I did poorly I would get a time around 36 or 37 minutes not 42! Oh well, I did run more then I walked so that is good. I guess it just gives me a time to beat next time.

Man, I just had really hoped for a little better. I can list all my excuses for why I ran so horribly (didn't feel good Saturday, was up for a little over an hour with a sick baby the night before) but I don't want to use those to feel better. Fact is I ran slow and I walked, which doesn't usually bother me. I made it through the first mile ok but at about a mile and a half my shin started hurting so badly. I have never had that much shin pain. That is what started my walking, my shin. I should thank the kind of crazy older lady that I ended up walking next to for getting me running again.  She started out by just encouraging me, saying it was ok to walk, but she went a little to far, ended up saying I was her hero because I was out there walking. I know she meant well but it really sucked having her tell me that, more discouraging then encouraging, am I the only one who would feel like that?  Of course, she didn't stop at that, she kept on talking and it got strange, I don't think I even said more then two words the whole conversation.  At one point we went past one of the volunteers, you know the ones who are suppose to cheer you on, and he yelled at us that there is no walking in triathlons, she was pissed! Started yelling at me about how he probably has never even done a tri before, oh did I mention that she was telling me all this while walking backwards, yep backwards, because when she first started talking to me apparently I had slowed her down so she said keep it up and that she was going to walk faster now cause she had people waiting for her, that was ok with me but then she turned around and just started going on and on, I honestly don't even remember most of what she said, it didn't make much sense. I guess I can't really explain how strange it was, it was weird. So if her goal was to get me to start running again just in order to get away from her it worked.  That rant may have sounded bad, sorry, way to go lady for being out there at all, I really am impressed by you doing the whole tri not just a relay, I hope when I am your age I am still doing these events.

After running to get away from crazy I made it about a half a mile before walking again.  I walked about half a mile, ran half a mile, walked half a mile all the way back.  I probably would have walked more but my awesome friend Linette, found me and ran the last bit with me, pushing me to go faster.  So I finished wanting to die strong.

All in all the tri was a good experience.
And now I know what it feels like to run/walk a 5k.

The girls on my relay team did great!  Diana started us off with a fantastic swim, barely missed her PR by like 18 seconds.  Then Melanie completed her first ever bike race and I ended the tri with my cruddy 5k run.

I had a lot of fun watching everyone and getting to hang out with some of my favorite people.

Diana, Linette, and I decided that we are gong to train and individually complete the entire triathlon in March 2013.  We will all be 30 then and thought that would make it even more fun.  Why would being 30 make it more fun?  I don't know but I am going with it.  =)

Linette, Me, Diana, and Melonie

Even with my HORRIBLE time I am really excited to run another 5k.

Linette just texted me, It's a baseline for improvement!

So, here's to improvement.

My first real race

Man, I had every intention of posting this first thing Monday morning but Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and now almost all of Wednesday have come and gone and I still haven't posted.  This week has been nuts, fall break at the kids school equals a busy time for me.

Back to the run.

This past Sunday I ran in a fun run 3k.  I was super nervous and my only goal, which I am pretty sure I mentioned before, was to run this nonstop.  I didn't care what my time was, well, we should say that I never verbalized that I cared what my time was.  I had a number in my head that I really, REALLY wanted to beat but I guess I didn't want to get greedy and I knew that just being able to run the whole thing was going to be hard enough.

 Well guess what?!!!

Not only was I able to run the whole 3k, pretty easily I might add, but I beat the number in my head, which was 24 minutes.  That's right!  Melinda, my sister in law, and I were able to finish in 23 minutes and 20 seconds.

23 MINUTES 20 SECONDS

Sorry about all the bold caps but I am pretty excited about our time.  We had done some "checkin' out the course" runs and had finished in about 26 minutes.  And I had been running at about a 13/14 minute mile when jogging in the mornings, I am by no means a fast runner.  I really didn't think that I was going to be able to knock off 2 minutes.  2 minutes!!  Ok, I'm done now.

Here is a picture of Melinda and I after the race.
Jon isn't the best photographer, but I love him anyways

Jon and the kids came out to support us but they completely missed us finish.  Oh well, maybe next time. Since there will definitely be a next time.  I am running the 5k portion of a relay triathlon this coming Sunday with some friends.  I hope that race goes as well as last weekends.

How many miles?

How many miles do you think I would have to run everyday to be able to eat as much ice cream as I want?

Just wonderin'
