A parental fail and wednesday weigh

Yesterday I got that call.
You know the one from your kids school, where you answer thinking it must be a sick kid or something because it is only 1:50 and they don't get out of school until 3. I answered and there was an adorable little voice and all she said was, "hi mom." I of course answered with "what's wrong baby? Are you not feeling well?" She ignored my question and said, "we are in the office." And at that moment I realized I completely forgot that it was early release and they had gotten out of school at 1:30!
I then proceeded to accidentally hang up on my sweet child while trying to gather my other two and get in the car as quickly as possible.  I called the school from the car, apologized and let them know I was on my way.  I snapped this picture after getting them.  William is not amused but Jordan is super happy because they had asked her what my number was and she remembered it and was able to call me, she was very proud.
I made up for it by taking them to get ice cream from McDonald's.  Ice cream fixes everything right?

I hate that I forgot them, my mom did this to me and my siblings on a weekly basis growing up and I hated it.  Of course, now being older I know she didn't actually forget us she just got caught up in other things, still, I hated it and never wanted to do it to my kids.  Oops.

Funny though, I rushed out of the house so fast that I didn't notice I had put on two different flip flops, must have been what was closest to the door.  =)

On to my Wednesday weigh in, I am down from yesterday but still up from where I was before Christmas.  Oh well, at least the scale is moving in the right direction again.  So I weighed in this morning at 175.2.

Happy Wednesday!

My future pianist

My baby bugger loves to play the piano.  I find him standing on his tippy toes reaching up to play almost every day.  I haven't been able to get a picture of him all stretched out reaching as far as he can but I am trying and am sure to get it captured soon.  He always has the most adorable face of determination and excitement.  His biggest sister is always eager to help him be able to play easier, I found him up on a chair playing.

Isn't he the cutest pianist

Our weekend

This weekend flew by, I hate it when that happens.

And while almost everyone else I know has a 3 day weekend, my children's school sent out a nice email saying that since Veterans day was on a Sunday there would still be school on Monday but to please enjoy having the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off.  I feel a little cheated, the kids always had a half day the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and have Veterans day off, so they didn't give us an extra day, the kids are actually having to go to school for an extra half day.  Is the school trying to pull a fast one? Cause I caught them, who are they kidding.  If my kids usually have a day and a half off and now are only getting a day off, I notice, where is our extra half day off huh?!  Ok, I am over it now.  Anyway, my kids have school so we don't have a three day weekend.

We did not get to sleep in at all on Saturday because the kids had soccer games bright and early, I don't think that I ever mentioned that I somehow got signed up to coach Jordan's soccer team.  Yep, I get to coach nine kids ranging in age from 4-6, it is exhausting.  Saturday was cold and rainy so the kids were freezing at the early game and I have had a nasty head cold all week so I wasn't feelin' it.  Thankfully, one of the kids dad helped try to get all the kids going in the right direction and not push each other over coach the game.  It went as smoothly as could be expected, the kids had fun and that is all that really matters, plus they are adorable in their giant uniforms.  William's game is much more entertaining to watch, 7, 8, & 9 year olds have pretty much figured out how to actually play soccer, plus I don't have to coach that team so of course it is better to watch.  After soccer we headed up to my mom's house to hang out with my sister and her kiddos.  They came down from Phoenix to visit, cause they do have a three day weekend.  My adorable nieces wanted to have a pajama party so my sister made cupcakes and let the kids decorate them.  Notice in the picture below that the girls are all actually in pajamas for the pajama party while the boys are still in their filthy clothes.

On Friday night, when I told the kids that they were going to have a pajama party at Nana's house with their cousins they were really excited.  Rexy asked if she would be allowed to dance at the pajama party, I replied of course she could dance, then she asked if she could dance as much as she wanted.  I told her that she could dance as much as her little heart wanted.  But how did she know that she should dance at a pajama party?  What a little weirdo.

Sunday was a little calmer.  I got up early and got in a grocery store run before church.  Usually Sunday mornings are a great day to go grocery shopping but for whatever reason the store was packed.  I went by myself and it still took an hour, when I go alone I can usually get out of there in about 20 minutes.
After church we had a nice lunch at home.  Jordan and my niece, Alee, went with my dad (their grandpa) on a long overdue birthday shopping trip.  My dad said that when they got in the car he told them they were going to go get a couple pair of jeans, two shirts, and a dress for each of them and they both started whining about wanting toys not clothes.  So while arguing with them Jordan said they should vote, I am sure because she has been voting at school about all kinds of things, needless to say, the girls outvoted my dad.  Poor guy, I don't think he remembers exactly what it was like when my sister and I were little.  They ended up with a toy and a beautiful Christmas dress, score for me, one less thing to buy.  After a nice dinner at my moms house we headed home to finish up homework, pack lunches, and get ready for our non three day weekend.  (I'm not bitter)

How was your weekend?  I am linking up today, go check everyone else out.

Half a dozen donuts

My oldest turned seven today, I can't believe it.  I feel like it was yesterday when we brought him home to our tiny apartment.  He was the best baby in the entire world and we were so excited.  Today he is the best son, older brother, second grader, swimmer, soccer player, friend... the list could go on and on.  He is such an amazing kid.  He has such a caring heart.  We love him so much and am so glad that God put him into our family.  I want him to stay young forever but at the same time I can't wait to see the young man he is going to become.

Happy Birthday!

This picture was taken on our annual camping trip to celebrate his birthday.  We always have alot of fun on this trip, we invite all of our friends and always end up with a great crowd.

Tradition in our family is to have donuts, I know that they are really spelled doughnuts but since we always buy from Dunkin Donuts I spell them that way.  Anyway, so our tradition is to have donuts for breakfast on the kids birthdays.  They LOVE donuts and so do I.  That is why the tradition started, because I LOVE donuts and could eat at least half a dozen in one sitting.  I had to limit myself somehow or I might have made the tradition to have donuts every Sunday morning which would have been bad.  I was very proud of myself today, I only had two donuts, this is major!  And guess what else, I didn't finish off the donut remnants from the kids.  I know that sounds disgusting to some people but I seriously have a problem when it comes to donuts so if there is frosting left on the kids donuts I will totally finish it for them.  And I didn't today, I just threw them away. I am so impressed with myself, maybe I should reward myself with donuts.   Ha ha, just kidding!

Treading water

This morning I was reminded of my days training to be a lifegaurd.  I treaded water for at least thirty minutes waiting for my little girlie to jump and swim to me over and over again. It was so much fun just me and her, and boy was it a workout. We swam together for 45 minutes, she was adorable and is turning into a great swimmer. I think that she will be swimming all over the place by herself next summer.

Isn't she a cutie?!

Enough is enough

I have been home since last Wednesday and I still have not gotten in one workout.

 Enough is enough.

This trend ends today.

 I will go running.

And tomorrow I will go running again.

I have no excuses.  The big kids are at school, I am home with two little ones.  There is no reason that I don't drive to the gym, put them in the nursery, and have my me time while running.  I am letting a busy afternoon schedule and the heat convince me that I can wait until tomorrow.  But tomorrow will be just as hot and most likely just as busy.

No more procrastinating.

I have goals to meet and a 5k to train for.  I need to get back to business.  I skipped last week so I plan on fitting in both last week and this weeks 5k training schedule in.  I can do it.  I know I can.

Watch me.

Back to school

Back to the grind today.  The big kids started school this morning.  I thought that it would be easier dropping of my second born child at kindergarten but I was just as torn up about it as I was when I dropped my first born.  They are growing up so fast.  I can't wait to hear how school was.

Here are the cuties waiting for the gates to open at school

Onto the subject of exercising.  I am seriously lacking in the motivation department which is silly since I was super motivated yesterday after my 3 pound weight loss.

Sweet vacation

Every second of this trip as been relaxing so far.  We didn't get in until late Friday night so we all slept in on Saturday which was amazing, even the baby slept in.  Then we walked down the beach to the pier and ate breakfast at Ruby's Diner.  On the way back the William and Jordan couldn't wait any longer and whole heartily ran into the ocean fully clothed.  Rexy is our cleaner, I wouldn't say she is clean but cleaner then the others, anyway, she did not like the idea of getting her clothes wet so she waited until we reached our condo and changed.  Which the condo is only a 5-10 minute walk from the pier, tells you how excited the kids were that they couldn't wait.  I think that we swam and played in the sand all day Saturday, it was wonderful.  This morning we headed to Costco to stock up for the rest of the trip.  I love Costco, I don't know what it is about that store but I LOVE going there.  And for some reason venturing to a Costco other then the one I normally go to is even more exciting.  We got salmon, trout, and a steak that were already seasoned to that we didn't have to worry about buying seasoning.  Then we grabbed a ton of fruits and veggies to have around to munch on.  I got all the ingredients for yummy smoothies.

We are about to head out to the beach again for probably the entire afternoon.  Well, the big kids will be out the entire afternoon.  Jon and I have to take turns staying with the little ones and letting them get their naps in so they aren't super cranky.

I wish that I could say that I have gotten up and gone running every morning so far but I can't, I haven't even gotten my tennis shoes out of the truck.  I am going to attempt to fit a run in this evening, I know, what a lame thing to say, attempt, like if our schedule is super busy here.

Playing on the beach, you can see Jon and Jordan in the ocean.

California here we come

We are heading to the beach this weekend.  I am looking forward to it.  I love the ocean and the kids are so excited.  William is the only one who remembers ever going to the beach.  Jordan and Rexy both say that they do but there is no way they remember, the last time we went Jordan was two and Rexy was 2 months old.  That was a fun trip but I am looking forward to them being older this time, even though we will still have a baby.  We will be gone for five days and because we are a little crazy and didn't realize that school started so early this year, we get back the night before school starts.  It will definitely be a tiring start to school but oh well.

Hopefully I will be able to keep up with my running schedule while on vacation.  Sunrise on the beach should make for a beautiful view.  We are planning on cooking for ourselves instead of eating out while there which should help me not gain extra weight.  Maybe I will be able to hold at 181 pounds again this week.

Lacking in motivation

Actually, I guess I would say I am not lacking in motivation, just lacking in time, sort of.  I gave myself the day off yesterday which I don't think is bad.  But I also stayed up late last night watching the Olympics, I can't resist watching the women's gymnastics.  So this morning I could not bring myself to get out of bed when my alarm clock went off at 5:45, yep that is when I have to get up to run before Jon leaves for work.  Anyway, my alarm clock went off and I hit snooze, so now it is 8:30 and I would love to go for a run but my four little babies at home keep me here.  Maybe I will be able to fit it in this evening.

6 Months

This adorable little guy is six months old today.  He is the sweetest baby ever, EVER!  I seriously don't think there has ever been a sweeter baby.  He has the best temperament, he lets all of his siblings love on him all the time and never fusses about it. He has more patience then any of my other babies, doesn't mind waiting his turn which is great since he is the youngest of four.  I love him so much and can't imagine, or remember, what our lives would be like without him.

But him being six months means that i only have six months to complete my goal.  I will do it.

My kids are AWESOME!!!

For the past few weeks Jon and I have been running in the morning before the kids wake up.  I love these morning runs.  We don't get to go together because obviously someone has to be home with the kids but we are planning on running a 5k together soon.  I have been making effort to eat healthy and make changes that help our family become healthier.  The kids have noticed and are always full of questions about why we are doing these things.  Recently they have wanted to go running with us.  I haven't taken them because I've been being selfish, I LOVE my morning runs, it is the only me time I get all day.  Plus I thought that they would slow me down.  Today I decided that I should be taking advantage of their desire to run, I should be doing everything I can to nurture their ambition.  So the older two and I went for a mile long run tonight.

They were AWESOME!!!

I had no clue what they were capable of, I completely misjudged them.  We ran at my pace and they ran the whole time, non stop.  They rocked it!  William could have kicked our butts to but he was being nice going slow with Jordan and me.  I am so proud of them.  Maybe that 5k Jon and I were going to run is going to turn into a family affair.  Can't wait!!!
