Wednesday weigh in

Hey new and old followers, it is fun having so many followers!!
Thanks for following everybody!
(do you think I said the word follower enough yet?)

So I know I am late with this post today but the day just got away from me, better late then never right?

I decided that since I already weigh in on Wednesdays I might as well jump in with everyone else and link up with Erin and Alex.

button

I am not going to lie, I really wanted to see a bigger loss this week.
I actually put in the effort, I mean a friend brought ice cream over on Sunday and left it in MY freezer and guess what?!  It is still there!!
Yep, you read that right, I did not devour that carton the second my friend left.
This is a ginormous step for me, ice cream is my weakness.
And I didn't eat it!!!
Well, even with all my healthy food choices this week I am only down one pound.
I know that I should be happy that I lost at all and normally I am but man.
I just feel discouraged, like if I am only going to lose a pound whether I eat whatever I want or make healthy choices then why wouldn't I eat all the ice cream I can find!

So this week I am weighing in at 172.8 lbs.
Down exactly one pound from last week.
I am going to keep at it though, that ice cream is just going to sit in my freezer, it won't win.

I just noticed this was my 100th post, cool!!

Monday

I know, really thought out title huh. I couldn't think of anything good.

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Ours turned out to be very low key and relaxing.
We did have 3 soccer games scheduled for Saturday morning immediately followed by a pizza party for one of the teams.  Then I was supposed to leave the party early to head to a celebration of life, a memorial service for a friend of mines daughter.
But instead of all that chaos it rained.
I love the rain, especially when it makes our lives slow down.  Instead of a morning filled with soccer and feelings of being rushed for me to get to the memorial service we were able to hang out in our pajamas.
Here are the kids building a Lego town in their pjs while I enjoy my coffee.

I was able to go for a run in between the downpours, it was beautiful weather.
And since I had time I actually did my hair and spent time picking out a nice outfit to wear to the ceremony.
Of course, once I was all "done up" I went to get in the car and somehow managed to fall out flat on my back.
I swear, it must have been hysterical to see.
Luckily I didn't really hurt anything, I have a small scrape on my ankle and a bruise on my elbow but nothing major.
I was wearing heals, a denim pencil skirt and a black shirt, I realize I probably should have taken a picture since I finally wore something other then yoga pants and a t-shirt but I wasn't feeling all that great in the outfit so decided not to document it.
Anyway, back to the awesome fall, I drive a big SUV that has running boards along the side, I was talking on the phone to my sister and knew that I was climbing in the car very awkwardly due to wearing heals and a skirt, see the problems that occur from wearing only yoga pants all the time I am not use to functioning in a skirt.
Well, the running boards were wet from the rain and my heels don't have good grip anyway.
I stepped on the running board and as soon as I put all my weight on that foot to get in I slipped, my feet went up over my head and I landed flat on my back next to the car.
I couldn't do anything but laugh, Jordan came running over and said, "what happened?! Did you fall?"
Gotta love five year olds, no I didn't fall, I just felt like laying on the wet ground in my nice clothes with my butt hanging out to the world.
Luckily for me only two cars drove by as I was still laying there trying to figure out if I was indeed ok.
Jon came over to see if I was ok, then asked if I needed help up cause um you are wearing a skirt.
I guess he didn't like me flashing the whole neighborhood.
Jon and Jordan dusted me off and I left for the life celebration, which was a beautiful ceremony where I cried my eyes out, the young girl who went to be with Jesus was only 19 and was prepared to go so she had very clearly written out her desires for her ceremony.
One of the things she wanted was for her dad to walk her down the isle since he now wouldn't have the privilege.
I was balling before he even entered the room.
Precious.

Sunday was just as laid back, Melinda, my sister in law, and I went for a run on a trail close to my house.
 It was so much fun!
We ran 3.25 miles and then did some stairs because we felt so good after.
I don't know what it is but I feel like I have so much more in me when I run on a trail vs. a street.
After the run I ate back my calories burned took the kids to McDonald's for breakfast, a new one opened right next to our house and they have $1 pancakes through the month of February.
I let the kids play on the playground for a LONG time, they needed to get rid of some energy.
We hung out at home playing in the rain for the rest of the day, oh we also walked to the park by our house and played on that playground.
All around it was a very nice weekend.
How was your weekend?

Have you stopped by Laura's blog and entered in her giveaway yet?

Ooh...I am so excited to find out who won Lora's ginormous giveaway!!!

This little guy also got to turn around in the car this weekend, he LOVES facing forward and I love being able to see him.

Big giveaway day!

Hey hey, it's Lora's big giveaway day!!

If you don't read Lora's blog Raising Steppe Sisters then do it now!
Man, she sure has put together one awesome giveaway.
I am very excited and nervous to have all of you new followers.
I love new friends, now I might actually have to be accountable to what I put out there, not that I wasn't before but more followers for some reason seems like more accountability.
But that is good, so yeah!

Anyway, if your new here, welcome!
I am Becca, actually some of my old followers might not even know my name, I really need to get one of those cool signatures for the bottom of my posts, I think I might do a blog overhaul this weekend.
Sorry, back to it, I am Becca, I have four adorable yet crazy kids, one ruggedly handsome husband, and I am going to be turning the big 3 0 next Friday.

I woke up this morning really wanting to do a vlog but every time that I started the baby decided to cry.  I don't know, maybe you will get one tomorrow or next week.

I blog mostly about my weight loss progress but sometimes throw some other random things in there.
I have some home tour post I am working on for next week.
We bought our house two years ago and were planning on fixing things kind of slowly then one day we just gutted the entire thing down to just load bearing walls.
So we ended up living with my mom for 9 months while it was put back together enough to be lived in.
Now we are very, very slowly making everything just how we want it.
It seems like it is taking forever but hopefully I will some day look back on it and be grateful for the experience but really I wont cause living in a construction zone with four children sucks butt.

Anyway, so glad that you are all here.

Have a great weekend!!

It's Wednesday!!!

I have not been on the scale since I weighed myself last wednesday.
I was so nervous getting on today.
But I am down to 173.8.
2.5 pounds closer to my ORB jeans!
 Woohoo!!

I have been working my booty off.
Last night my older kids went to a cousin sleepover.
And I did something that I would have never done in the past, I took advantage of only having one kid and asked the neighbor to watch him so I could get my run in.
I was so happy when they said they would love to.
I ran the same route that I did on Sunday but finished a minute faster.
 Yippee!
This training schedule is really working me.
But I am loving it.

Well, that is all I have for you today.

Happy Wednesday!

Running gear link up

button

Today I am linking up with Laura and Mel (I love them!) for a running gear link up.

I don't really have any amazing running gear, I wish I did.
I check prices over and over again hoping to one day have a fancy pancy garmin watch but alas, I have none.
My one favorite running item that I have decided that I could not live without are my compression capris from old navy.
They are amazing!
They are so comfortable.  They stay in place at all times.  They are just all around wonderful.
I feel like I could fly in them.
Since having run in them now when I wear other pants/capris to run I feel sluggish, I know it sounds silly but that is the only difference between the runs.
I am so in love with my capris that I am planning on going and buying another pair just in case old navy decides to stop carrying them.
I love them that much.

Can't wait to see what other gear I need be on the lookout for.

Nice and relaxing

My weekend was very low key, the kids had no soccer games this weekend.
It was so nice to have a break from soccer.
We went to dinner with family Friday night, William spent the night with my sister in law and Jordan spent the night with my mom so we ended up with just the two little kids at home.
It was great, they went to bed early so Jon and I were able to just hang out and relax together.

Then Saturday we all slept in until 7!!
Yes, that is an amazing feat in my house.
I got in a nice 1.5 mile run outside, the weather has changed and is back to being just beautiful outside.
We didn't do anything else all day Saturday, just hung around, it was so nice.

Sundays are my long run days which I always plan to do outdoors, it was beautiful weather again.  Melinda, my SIL, went with me.
I was scheduled for a 3.5 mile run, I was a little nervous cause I haven't been doing really well with my longer runs.
So I told Melinda that we were just going to go really, really slow and try to finish at least 3 miles.

My stupid smart dumb, pain in my butt phone couldn't find a GPS signal so we ended up just running as long as we could hoping that we would get close to 3 miles.
I hadn't set a route because I thought we would just go until we hit a mile and a half then turn back towards my house.
Well, we ended up doing great, we thought that we had only ran about 2 miles but when I drove it we actually had gone 2.8 miles!
I was so excited because we had actually paced ourselves so nicely and could have kept going but we had already extended it to loop past my house once so we thought we were good to stop.
If I had known we were so close to the 3 miles I would have finished it, heck I felt so good I might have even finished the whole 3.5.
I was really impressed with my endurance, we finished the 2.8 miles in 35 minutes, not too bad.  After I was feeling so good and I wanted to go to sports authority so I talked her into running there with me, it is only .4 miles from my house so it wasn't really far but since we ran there and back we got in another almost full mile.
It was a pretty nice morning.

I spent the afternoon putting together this dome climber that my mom had gotten for her backyard, it was a lot of work and my thumb hurts from tightening all of the bolts.  But it was totally worth it cause the kids spent a good hour on it after I finished and they only stopped cause it was time to go home.  This is a great outdoor toy if you are looking for some sort of jungle gym.

I am off to get some swimming in this morning, then we are playing at the park.

How was your weekend?

MFP linkup, weigh in, totally random post

I haven't posted in a while, I just haven't been feeling it, not sure why.

But I wanted to keep up with my weigh ins that was supposed to happen on Wednesday so that I have it somewhere.
I weighed in on Wednesday at 176.4 lbs.
Down from last week but still up from where I was, I am still fighting to lose the weight I gained back over the holidays.
The scale is moving down and that is all that really matters.

Raising Steppe Sisters
2 week MFP Challenge

I attempted Lora's MFP challenge but FAILED
I kept meaning to but never started logging until yesterday so I have made it two days.
I usually get in a habit of doing it everyday then something happens and I miss one day then weeks go by before I get back at it.

 I am recommitting now.

An update with my 10k training, it is going good.
I can't remember if I posted that I was starting the training schedule over.
I had started before Christmas but then I struggled a lot with the cold weather and running, I HATE the treadmill.
I think that I have it figured out now, I run two times a week on the horrid treadmill and then my long runs are outside.
There are only three running days in this program, so if I get the chance I ditch the treadmill and hit the pavement.
It all depends on whether or not my husband is available to watch the kids so that I can run in daylight, I hate it that the sun doesn't rise till after 7am, I was in such a good routine of running at 6 before everyone was awake.

Today I swam some laps for the first time in a long time.
I need to fit more swimming in so that I am prepared for the Triathlon that I signed up for, it is on March 24.
I am petrified and super excited all at the same time.

I think this post was random enough, I hope to post more regularly starting next week.
Even if I have only 23 followers I love how I feel accountable to all 23 of you.
But I am also a little afraid to have any more followers, I don't know, I'm just weird.  I put all my fat pictures and my weight on here so more followers means more people seeing.
 AHHHH....SCARY!

Have a great weekend!!

A parental fail and wednesday weigh

Yesterday I got that call.
You know the one from your kids school, where you answer thinking it must be a sick kid or something because it is only 1:50 and they don't get out of school until 3. I answered and there was an adorable little voice and all she said was, "hi mom." I of course answered with "what's wrong baby? Are you not feeling well?" She ignored my question and said, "we are in the office." And at that moment I realized I completely forgot that it was early release and they had gotten out of school at 1:30!
I then proceeded to accidentally hang up on my sweet child while trying to gather my other two and get in the car as quickly as possible.  I called the school from the car, apologized and let them know I was on my way.  I snapped this picture after getting them.  William is not amused but Jordan is super happy because they had asked her what my number was and she remembered it and was able to call me, she was very proud.
I made up for it by taking them to get ice cream from McDonald's.  Ice cream fixes everything right?

I hate that I forgot them, my mom did this to me and my siblings on a weekly basis growing up and I hated it.  Of course, now being older I know she didn't actually forget us she just got caught up in other things, still, I hated it and never wanted to do it to my kids.  Oops.

Funny though, I rushed out of the house so fast that I didn't notice I had put on two different flip flops, must have been what was closest to the door.  =)

On to my Wednesday weigh in, I am down from yesterday but still up from where I was before Christmas.  Oh well, at least the scale is moving in the right direction again.  So I weighed in this morning at 175.2.

Happy Wednesday!

ASICS GEL-Neo33

button
I am linking up today with Mel and Laura to talk about my favorite running shoes.
Well, if you have read any of my recent posts then you know that I just bought my first pair of real running shoes.
Womens ASICS GEL-Neo33 Running Shoe
Before these I have only had cross trainers.  Which I always thought I needed because my cute little feet are a little fat so I always thought that running shoes would be to narrow for me.
Well, I did some research and went into Performance Footwear and was professionally sized.  It is an interesting process that I think anyone could do, they didn't tell me anything that I hadn't learned from researching on the internet.  I figured out that I should buy a stability shoe in a size 7, I usually wear a 6 or 6 1/2.  I guess I just thought there was so much more to it.  But it seems it is just a game of trial and error.  Buy a pair, wear 'em, if you like them and they feel good, great, if you don't, well, then hopefully you bought them somewhere with a good return policy.  Mel seems to have had a better experience with her fitting, maybe I should have gone to Fleet Feet and been fitted instead of Performance Footwear but I had heard they were pretty equivalent, I don't know.  But I did buy my shoes from a website that gives me 3 months to wear them and see if I like them, if not I can exchange for another pair.
So far I am loving my new pair of Asics gel-neo33.  Granted, I have only worn these shoes for one run but they were aMAZING!!!
So comfortable, they are snug but it felt like I was being held perfectly.  Super supportive and just all around felt great.
Sorry I don't have more to share about them, give me a week and then ask again.
But they are SUPER cute, see.

It's on!!!

My husband, Jon, has always been able to run circles around me.
When we were in high school his sister and I used to go running every morning, one day he came with us and actually ran circles around us talking the whole time while we were dying.
Anyway, on Saturday my new running shoes came in the mail.

Woohoo!!

I was so excited, I of course promptly put them on and started showing him, his sister (the same one I still run with), and my mom how fast my new shoes make me go.
Picture me running full speed from the kitchen down the hall and back just like a little four year old does when showing someone how fast their shoes make them go.
Well my husband made some smart ass remark to witch I responded that he better watch out or I might invite him running with me and then leave him in the dust.
One thing lead to another and I ended up challenging him to a race.
The race will be held on the first Saturday of 2014, yep, I have a full year to train for this race and you better believe I will kick his butt!

He has always been one of those people built to run, he can do no training WHATSOEVER then go run a 5k in 24 minutes, it is one thing I hate am jealous about him.

A sweet note from our past, before either of us had a car he used to run the 3.5 miles from his house to mine to hang out then would run home, sweet.

Back to the race, we are trying to come up with a good name for it, I had thought maybe the honey race cause it is going to be so sweet to leave my honey in the dust.

 Ehh.
I don't love it.
 Do you have any ideas?

Cause you know we are going to be referring to this race all year long.

I will beat him, you better believe it.

Plus we need something to call it cause it has been coming up a lot.

 Funny story.

Last night I looked outside and see Jon running, FAST across the backyard carrying a huge log.
I opened the door to go tease him about training for the big race.
But I stepped out, slipped on a stupid hammer that my son had been playing with and fell flat on my ass!
 It hurt like hell!
Once I figured out that Ben, yes I was holding baby Ben when I fell, once I figured out that we were both fine I still made fun of him about his "training."
Which of course didn't quite have the impact I had envisioned since I was saying it from the ground. He responded with some comment about how I better get used to seeing him from that angle cause I am going to be on my knees crying, he is going to beat me so bad.
I don't know, I guess you had to be there.
I have a huge bruise on my arm where I hit the door frame, I tried to take a picture but it didn't show how swollen it is.
The neighbors are even all revved up for the race.  They have an 18 year old son that Jon occasionally goes running with, well I told them about the race yesterday and how I was going to beat Jon by a gazillion minutes and he didn't even hesitate, he said, "oh, Jon is going to let you win by that much huh?"
I couldn't believe it, this quite nerdy kid just hit me with that one, oh it is so on.
Now I have to beat him to prove it to everyone, so watch out Jonny boy.
I'm coming for you.
So everyone better go ahead and mark your calenders for the great race.
(that name doesn't work either, I need to think of something better)

My new bling

I feel like that title is a little silly, mainly because I have never used the word bling, EVER
But I am in love with my new Anthropologie earrings that I won last week from the giveaway over on Laura's blog,
Walking in Memphis in High Heels.

If you don't already follow her blog you should, she is awesome.

Plus she is planning on having a giveaway once a month, sweet!

Here I am sporting my new bling
(look I said bling again!)

Photobucket

I think I am going to have to actually put on something other then yoga pants tomorrow so that I can wear these earrings.

On a side note, I feel like I need to practice taking self portraits.  Everyone else seems to have this skill mastered, I swear I took like 50 shots and this was the best one.
Pathetic.

Have a good weekend!

New running shoes

I just ordered these babies
Womens ASICS GEL-Neo33 Running Shoe
I am very excited!
This is the first pair of what I feel like are real running shoes I have ever had.
Until now I have always ran in my cheap cross training shoes that I got from Costco.
But now that I am really committing to this running thing I decided to put on some big girl pants and buy shoes actually meant for running.
I can't wait till they come in the mail.
It will be better than Christmas!

13 in 2013

All right, I really wanted to avoid weighing in today but I just couldn't keep myself off the scale.  I am back up to 176 lbs.
Bummer, but whatever.  I continued to eat whatever I wanted over New Years and am now ready to get back on track.
That number will be going back down next week.

I signed up with Jill at Fitness, Health, & Happiness to run 13 races in 2013.  I know, it seems like a lot but I need the motivation to make myself run.  I chose to do 13 5ks but who knows maybe by the summer I will be ready to try a 10k (doubt it).  She will also be hosting some virtual races so that will help with the cost, man races are ridiculously expensive.

Anyway, I have noticed that I say (type?) anyway in almost every post maybe my goal for 2013 should be to not say anyway so much.

Anyway, I think that this 13 in 2013 will just help in my Operation Red Bikini challenge.
I still don't have my goals for this year sorted out, maybe that will never happen, I don't know.
